The Rolex Submariner 16610 – Iconic and One of our Favorites
The Rolex Submariner. We have all seen this timeless beauty on many of the world’s most prestigious designers, celebrities, artists and political figures. The Rolex Submariner has had a unique history being one of the first diving watches ever and really has not dramatically changed over its sixty plus year history. One particular model, the ref 16610, is a transitional model that has design references to the past models but also has incredible technological advances that are used in the current Rolex Submariner Ref. 116610.
The movement in the Rolex Submariner 16610 is the 3135 caliber. This movement was made to COSC standards, which is Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres, the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute, which is the institute responsible for certifying the accuracy and precision of wristwatches in Switzerland. This means that Rolex produced a watch that consistently only looses four seconds a day or gains six seconds a day under extreme conditions This is simply amazing when it comes to the accuracy of a time piece. Very few watches in the world can promise this, and Rolex can on a multitude of its watches. Remember the watch is powered by your movement. As you wear the watch, a small wheel moves around inside the watch, winding it.
The movement of a Rolex Submariner 16610 is a work of art but so is the Oyster Case. The Submariner is water resistant to 1000 feet or 300 meters. This feat of engineering was perfected by Rolex creator, Hans Wildorf more than eighty years ago. His innovative design is still part of the design of each Rolex in general. The Submariner also has a single direction bezel that allows divers to track how long they have left in their oxygen tank. These types of innovations have earned the Rolex Submariner the name of “tool watch,” which is not commonly given to any luxury good. The 16610 Rolex Submariner is an iconic design that will go down in history as one of the best watches ever. The Everest Band fits perfectly to it, and we are proud to produce products for its owners.
